The Rewards of Wisdom

November 27, 1981

The wise farmer does not find his reward and satisfaction in predicting and observing the crop and stock problems of the foolish farmer.  The wise farmer receives his satisfaction and reward from living with his own healthy crops and animals, and in receiving his pay when he sells them.

Wise people do not find their reward and satisfaction in predicting and observing the results of the foolishness of others, but rather in living with the fruits of wisdom in their own lives.  Observing the fruits of foolishness gives the wise more regrets than pleasure.

The wise find delight in the wisdom and prosperity of others.  The foolish look for pleasure in the misery of others.  Like-hearted men respond to each other.
