Christian's letter

July 21, 2010

Printed below is a copy of a letter recently sent by a member of our local fellowship.  It is here to give those interested more information regarding the thinking and practice present among us.

Dear (name of young girl),

My name is Christian Livingstone.

Your address was given to me after I chose to participate in the Child Fund effort in your area, and after I chose to begin making small contributions for you in particular.

A few years ago, I began a similar voluntary sponsorship of a boy in Brazil, which continues to this day through Child Fund (originally called Christian Children's Fund).

But I wanted to sponsor a girl, and one from a different continent.

So, you're the one.

Anyway, I'm a 50 year old man, never married, but still very happy.

When I was about 20 years old, and had hired myself out to a large and hostile sea-going organization, I did visit the area of Thailand.

But for the last 15 years or so, I've been a Christian-Anarchist.  Which means I like the teaching of Christ and do not participate in hostile US or State citizenship.  It makes a few things a little tricky.  I have a modest website at:  www.newjerusalemtimes.com, but most people, even churchgoers, have trouble accepting ideas that reject participating in a hostile State.

Also, about 9 years ago, both of my legs were severed slightly above the knee while I was repairing a grain conveyor system.  I can walk with two artificial limbs and a couple of canes, though.  I can drive cars, riding lawn mowers, and push shopping carts just fine.  I'm not on any kind of State Disability, but I did get a little Insurance money, since the accident was due to the direct action of someone else.

I'm welding for myself a custom hand-cycle to do most of my traveling, hopefully soon. I might even put a little electric motor on it.

I'll include some photos, too.

So, this is just a little introduction from me.

Peace be with you,
Christian
