Political hooks

June 10, 1980 (Carter-Reagan times)

We have discovered that most of our recent politicians have hooks in their backs. They are bait dangled before us.

To discuss the relative merits of programs proposed by these candidates accomplishes no more than for the fish to debate the nutritional value of worms compared with minnows, when both are suspended on hooks. The fish which swallows the bait is controlled by the angler. The voters who elect the bait are giving power to the bait-danglers.

The fish should be less concerned with nutritional theory and more concerned about hooks.
