Mortgages, Foreclosures

January 25, 1985

In all the present talk of debts, mortgages, and foreclosures, little attention is given to relevant passages of Scripture.

One such passage is Proverbs 22:26,27:
“Do not be a man who strikes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts; if you lack the means to pay, your very bed will be snatched from under you.”

If our current trials stimulate Christians to rediscover such passages, we can look to a more secure future. There is little hope for those who trust in human rulers and pray to them for temporary deliverance.
